What is Taekwondo?
Taekwondo is a Korean martial art characterized by its emphasis on kicking techniques, which are often fast and dynamic. It also includes hand strikes, blocks, and various forms of sparring. Taekwondo practitioners often train for self-defense, physical fitness, and mental discipline. It is both an Olympic sport and a popular martial art practiced by millions of people worldwide. Taekwondo training typically involves learning patterns of movements called forms or poomsae, as well as practicing techniques in a controlled environment with partners. The belt system, ranging from white to black belt, signifies a practitioner's level of skill and knowledge within the art.
Here at Galaxy Martial Arts we teach World Taekwondo (WT, formerly the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF)). In addition to Taekwondo, we teach Judo, Jiu-jitsu, and Hapkido as a self-defense. We also teach Gumdo which is the Korean art of sword.
